Roos Instruments Leverages OPENSTAR Platform for Cassini Tester

Adoption of OPENSTAR Platform Gains Momentium

The Semiconductor Test Consortium (STC), Inc. today announced that Roos Instruments (RI), a leading manufacturer of turnkey IF/RFIC characterization and production test solutions for the communications industry, has developed the Cassini Tester, based on the STC’s OPENSTAR® (Open Semiconductor Test Architecture) platform specifications. This announcement further illustrates the growing support and adoption of the OPENSTAR platform, which aims to develop scalable, reconfigurable test solutions to lower chipmakers’ total cost of IC testing.

The Cassini Tester will offer very high speed RFIC test with excellent system-to-system correlation in a compact and modular package suitable for multi-site and RF Strip Test applications. While developing the Cassini Tester, RI worked closely with the STC and Advantest to ensure the tester is fully compliant with Advantest’s T2000 tester platform, the first OPENSTAR platform that has been qualified to STC specifications and is in commercial production. The Cassini is a state-of-the-art tester and is an ideal solution for the low-cost test market for both system-on-chips (SoCs) and system-in-package (SIPs), with a starting price of $250,000 and will begin shipping to customers in early 2005.
